How GYM053 welcomes Enschede's students and its German neighbours

The gym is in the east of the Netherlands. It runs kickboxing and conditioning classes, bag training at your own pace, technique training in pairs and kids kickboxing from age 6, and it offers a free trial lesson.

A student city on the German border

Enschede is a student city, with many international students and expats, and it sits close to the German border. A site in Dutch only gives those visitors little to go on before they walk in. English reaches the students and expats. German reaches the neighbours from across the border.

A site that rarely changes, in two more languages

GYM053’s site runs on WordPress with Elementor, and it is mostly static: it changes rarely. The point was never to keep up with a stream of edits. It was to reach people the gym could not reach before.

The team installed the LangRelay plugin and connected the site, and LangRelay translated its pages. The site stays Dutch at its own address, with English under /en/ and German under /de/, and a language switcher in the dark header lets a visitor choose.

When the gym does change something on the site, LangRelay picks up the edit and translates the new text, and the rest of the translated page stays as it was.

What visitors get

A visitor who does not speak Dutch can read what the gym offers, the classes and the free trial lesson, in English or German before visiting. Whoever looks after the site can open any translated page in the Visual editor and adjust the wording.
